Major newspapers have done a marvelous job of helping keep everyone's nerves soothed.
There's a time for that, directives may be in place from superiors, no one wants to be fired by being negative, however, somewhere in the bubble between being nice and being real, knowing reality can help invigorate the many different hands that pitch in and help move the mountain where it needs to be.
Today this far has been a little bit different than the 'business as usual', both literally and figuratively.
Food stores are almost empty, when they ordinarily would be overcrowded.
Why?, the reason is simple and plain to see. People either don't have as much money as they ordinarily do, or they still have some, but are being very careful about spending it.
As of the moment of this writing begin, somewhere between 12 noon and 12:15pm, government 'shutdown is still in effect.
Government, federal, and military jobs for a long time has provided staple income for numerous families; not just in the USA, or a town built near a military base, but for any nation anywhere anytime.
When Uncle Sam is not exchanging money, and employees aren't receiving it, there's a real obvious domino effect. One person doesn't get money, the next person doesn't get money, the next the next, and so on.
Employees don't get money, the grocery stores wind up with less goods sold, demand in a way goes down respective supply. Clothing stores, movie theaters, recreational facilities, places and businesses that provide goods and services for social activities are moved toward the bottom of the priority list. People that use these businesses as sources of income to feed their families essentially get some of the same brunts as government employees when their income is cut.

Alaska dealing with several different kinds of outages.
Outages from the Typhoon Halong, outages in Anchorage in connection to power load distribution, and IT outages at Alaska Airlines correlating to about $26 million in loss.
Somewhere around this time last year, there was some bull jive talk about Russia looking over the idea of trying to take Alaska 'back'.
Right now in Hawaii, there are indeed some challenges that need to be contended with, such as crime and road speeding, but crime is not at inordinate frequency and amount, to where there's an inordinately large problem.
