Roundup Monday Jan 19th 2026- Placidity Losing Grip
Posted by HCN on Monday, January 19, 2026
Brief outline:
- Guatemalan police, at least 9 lost as of about right now, State of Emergency declared.
- Uprisings in prisons, at least a few dozen guards reported to have been taken hostage. Two of the 3 prisons the occurrence appear to include,
- El Lobo Prison (Finca Modelo/Pavoncito)
- Renovacion 1 (R1) in Escuintla
- Spain train incident, crash
- Minimums in recent Iran 'protestor crackdown' as reported by media are around 3900; it is not clear the totality if what is going into the protestors, protesting, or the crackdown. Reports are extreme numbers and some aspects of global media coverage of the incidents day to day seem barely seen. Last week, word got around that the crackdowns involving death had ceased, the numbers were 2500 thereabout. Perhaps a lull, ostensible rest, an increase of 1400 over; unclear, differing reports as to the larger number to begin with. Practical checks might have to come into the assessment, are there really that many people that could be in the city active in protesting if suppression(?) of it was in place for some weeks now.
- Mid December of last year was an incident in Delaware involving firearms at the DMV, trooper on guard the facility shot, then the shooter was shot by another law enforcement member. New findings on motives are surfacing in the media right through here.
- Security modus operandi for motor vehicle facilities may be affected; large open space indoor facility with a skeletal crew of guards, and an assumption that there is minimal chance of something going wrong, is a perception that is plausibly under revision
- Fires at factories/plant:
- South Deering, South Chicago area near water/ Indiana line, in the last few hours
- Emporia, Virginia last Thursday night
- Judge and wife shot inside their home in Lafayette, Indiana earlier today
- South Korea reportedly slating go ramp up missiles/capacity etc in possible counterbalance of void of nuclear capability per pertinent treaties, for defense with respect to North Korea.
- Extreme flooding in Mozambique said to be a cause for mass displacement.
- Flooding in South Africa as well; perhaps southern Africa in general affected.
- Turquoise Alert issued, after 8 year old girl went missing, Navajo related.
- Greenland gaining momentum as a central issue in international politics arena, in sequence after US officials voicing prospectives.
- Former South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol and wife Kim Keon Hee, undergoing comb being cut, punitive actions set or the prospects of them, upon developments that unravelled having to do with insurrection, rebellion, and abuse of power, for the first named, and vagaries of allegations of financial related misconduct/corruption for the latter named.
- Rumen Radev announced that he will officially resign as Bulgarian president. Vice President Iliana Yotova reported as slated to hold hilt until next elections.
- Moldova making moves to move out CIS, into EU
- Recent smash and grab incident netting property assault thieves over a million dollars in Jersey City NJ the other day, proof that certain kinds of people and their activities is not desisting
