Motivation Behind this Webpage:
Lessons learned from Vietnam. This means lessons learned from what might be briefly described as US military intervention in and around Vietnam, typical dates are March 1965 to the early 1970s. Some refer to it as the Vietnam War. 'Lessons learned' in this context, is somewhat of a cliche, that refers to the many things learned from the era, that we could apply later, if, the lessons are remembered, retrievable, available, guidance is around to direct to apply the lessons, etc. Perhaps among the lessons, are lack of information, or not focusing on the information, as it relates to developments of the era and place. Whereat, some theories may suggest that had more individuals had more information more often, then perhaps some of the misfortunes would not have developed to the extent that they did. So, providing information, or at least a model to, might help prevent, allay, subside etc, misfortunes today, in different era and place.
In some views, it might be said that the sequence of events that led to present turbulence in the Middle East is different than the Vietnam region. Aside from higher conversations of where to draw the line if any between the Middle East and Vietnam, Vietnam went from European presence in the region, to later increased American presence, to intervention, keeping communist in check, as well as arguable summary comments like war over rice, mitigation of the distribution of dangerous substances, and peacekeeping efforts. The Middle East has almost always had turbulence whereat at the seed is the Dome of the Rock and referent sites. In more modern times, competition for oil is sometimes cited as a component of the causes for turbulence.
There are some questions, about why the status of conditions in the Middle East are the way they are today. Those questions are maintained as ones being mindful of. It appeared that some of the young men involved in the October 7th incident, were not purely motivated by a betterment for Holy Land/ Palestine/ Israel region; they, in a series of events, are not appropriately empowered to be indirect causes for affects on US personnel.
Although the US has had troops in the Middle East in varying capacities for years, the starting date for the records in this blog, is the start of 'Operation Epic Fury'.
