In today's time, weapons of mass destruction are so lethal, that to the extreme, and to the lighter side throwing a sewing needle into a pile of rocks and expecting a major result. In between there, if someone really wanted to do some damage, they could, if they went forward. Hence, a large part of the drama and suspense, which isn't a game, as death and starvation continue in the region, drama and suspense are being puppets of emotions, and the abuse of emotions along with abusing religious beliefs.
