African group, often described as an 'offshoot of Al Qaeda' or 'Al Qaeda linked'.
It might be a fusion of several other groups in the African Sahel region especially. At least several countries are considered as in the region. Briefly the Sahel is the belt in Africa south of the large countries in the north that border with waters, but north of central Africa and areas considered dense jungle.
The group or groups is, are said to be relatively new in formation or label.
West Africa, in the main, north of the equator.
At the present time, October 2025, main concerns pertain to fuel blockades into Mali's capital. Bamako the capital.
Meanwhile, nations like the US, has to contend with illegal immigrants, and going through the turbulence to mitigate dangerous terrorists entering the US through the illegal immigrant channel.
It may be easier for militants from groups like those in the Sahel, to blend in to areas frequented by African Americans.
When African terrorists do that, it can be a real pain, as crime sometimes is already high in some of those areas, or, illegal immigrants while at the same time members of a terror group, may amplify destructive, degenerative, violence, unstable volatile society and neighborhoods, distribute weapons and money, pay for violence amongst neighbors and cousins, cause havoc, discourage unruly disorderly behavior and so on.
That kind of dynamic can complicate decision making of where to send different kinds of peace keeping teams or troops in the country where illegal immigration going on.
